Broderick/ Talbot Par-tay

My sister's hubby had a few days off so they decided to come visit! We had a great time and enjoyed some new things and new recipes.
The first night they were there we got distressing news from my mom. There was a huge fire blazing in Pocatello. It was spreading fast and destroying homes right and left. Many of my high school friends lost their childhood homes. My dad was out of town but my brother, Ben, was there. The hill my parent's live on was evacuated and the fire was still spreading. It came within yards of my Aunt's house. My sister did a good job describing everything, HERE. My parent's home was safe but I am very sad for the great loss. Check out the link to see pictures. Before all of this happened, I was feeling a little bad for the Colorado fires, but after it hit so close to home it made me realize just how awful it must be for them. :(

Anyway, on a lighter note here are some cute pictures from our weekend.
This is Claire's first time at the park swinging. Collin was doing a really good job pushing her "gently." The picture on the right is at the Rubbermaid store. Claire loved being pushed around in this cute pink car. Man she is getting so big!
She always does the cutest things with her hands. LOVE IT!
We also ventured into Amish Country. They have a big tent with some farm animals. It was a hit with the kids. Above is Daphne, my sister's girl.
Collin loved watching the animals! Can you see how large that horse is behind Shaun? HUGE!
I didn't get as many pictures as I thought I did, but we enjoyed lots of walks, play time, and keeping cool in the extreme temps! Shaun made homemade caramel ice cream with a chocolate tart. YUM!!

Funny enough, we were so worried about my parent's fire we didn't realize that Ohio was actually in a state of emergency. Shaun's mom called to check on us...we realized that we were extremely blessed to not be hit by the crazy storms. Thankfully we still have power and air conditioning because it is HOT!

Looks like you are all having fun! The fires across the west are scary, hopefully they end soon. I'm glad your family was ok. Also, here's a link to my friend's recipe blog.

Her two boys have several allergies and her recipes are great. My brother has to eat gluten-free and he has a book with brands of food that are safe to eat. I hope things are getting better with that.
